Our classes are devoted to the study of a wonderful collection of Jewish wisdom and aphorisms – the treatise Pirkei Avot (Teachings of the Fathers). The recognition of moral and ethical statements as fundamental follows from the respect with which they are treated by the Torah and the Talmud. Together, these principles became the core of the worldview and ethics of Judaism. “If you have learned a lot of Torah, do not boast, for this is what you were created for.”(2:8)
