Almost all prayers can be read by yourself. However, tradition recommends, whenever possible, that 10 adult (at least 13 years old) males pray in a minyan.
There are three main daily public prayers: shacharit – morning, mincha – afternoon and maariv – evening.
The Shema, “Listen!”, begins with the words “Listen, Israel: Our God Almighty is One” and is read in Shacharit and Maariv. Amida, “Standing”, is read necessarily standing and consists of 19 short verses-blessings, each of which expresses gratitude to the Almighty for everything that is the subject of the Jewish faith. It is read during each of the above-mentioned main public prayers, and during Shacharit and Mincha, the worshipers first read it – each to himself, and then Amida repeats the leader of the prayer.
